Apple Recalls MacBook Pro 15-Inch Due to Fire Hazard

Apple MacBook Pro Recalls Over 450,000 Units

Apple’s recently recalled over 450,000 MacBook Pro laptop units due to fire hazard. This recall has been filed in accordance with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.

If you have an Apple 15-inch MacBook Pro laptop computer, you will want to pay attention to this post. The recalled laptops have a 15.4-inch display, 2.2-2.5 GHz processor, 256GB-1TB solid-state storage, two Thunderbolt 2 ports, two USB 3 ports, and one HDMI port. To determine if your laptop computer is included in this recall you can check the laptop’s serial number at https://support.apple.com/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall/. Flip over a MacBook and you’ll see the serial number printed on the Mac itself, near the “Designed by Apple in California” text. On the Mac Pro, you’ll find it on the back panel or by choosing “About This Mac” from the Apple menu. Of the 450,000 units affected 432,000 units are in the United States and another 26,000 in Canada.

As of this post, Apple has received 26 reports of the laptop’s battery overheating. This includes five reports of minor burns and one report of smoke inhalation, as well as 17 reports of minor damage.
